2012, for the Grand Hotel, is not only the year for its 60th anniversary but also a glorious year to receive several awards. After 1967 and 1968 respectively being recognized as the top 10 hotels around the world and as the best hotel by the American magazines, Fortune, and Holiday, the Grand Hotel is once again praised by this international organization. Hotel Club members voted the Grand Hotel as “The Most Traditional Hotel.” In the meantime, it is also recognized as one of the “Top 10 Most-Popular Hotels in Taiwan,” which is a voting activity organized by Taiwan External Trade Development Council, TAITRA. Indeed, this year means a lot to the Grand Hotel.
Hotel Club is a well-known Australian online hotel booking website. Established in 1996, it has 71,000 hotels’ booking websites with more than 6 million members. After spending 3 years to collect more than ten thousand members’ opinions, Hotel Club set up 10 awards. Mr. Jonathan Starkings, the CEO of Business Affairs expressed that they had selected 30 Taiwanese Hotels to be in this competition. The Grand Hotel is awarded as “The Most Traditional Hotel.” Especially, Jonathan flied to Taiwan and presented this award to the Grand Hotel on July 5th.
According to the visit records of Hotel Club, Mr. Wood from Hong Kong indicated that he loves seeing local and historical buildings. He will definitely find a chance to appreciate the Grand Hotel with the Chinese style architecture. This voting result will be widespread passed to all members who will come to visit Taiwan in the near future.
Additionally, to provide domestic and foreign business people a good reference to try more Taiwan’s cuisines at hotels and restaurants, TAITRA especially held an online voting activity of the TOP 10 Hotels in Taiwan. Out of 260 hotels and restaurants, the voting result shows that the Grand Hotel’s Grand Garden restaurant is on the Top 10 Most-Popular Hotel. During this activity, the popular cuisines originating from various places, including the Chinese mainland, palaces, local specialties, and foreign cuisines, have fully demonstrated the diversity of foods in Taiwan.
Celebrating the 60th anniversary, the Grand Hotel has also been receiving a series of awards. For the hotel, this is another memorable achievement in its glorious history; for the staff, receiving recognition from most visitors is indeed an encouragement. Certainly, the Grand Hotel will continue making progress as the Ambassadors Hotel to welcome more visitors in the future.
