The “State Banquet Hall” in the Golden Dragon Hall unveiled its new look! The brand-new facilities and the “state banquet”, high-end service and classic cuisine presented by professional team is now available!
The “State Banquet Hall” was established in 1963 and was originally the Presidential Suite. The first foreign heads of state that stayed in this room was the King of Thailand Rama Ⅸ, King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit who just celebrated his 85th birthday on December, 5th 2012. The former President Chiang Kai-Shek and Mme. Chiang received them in this room. The main building of the Grand Hotel was finished in 1973 and the new Presidential Suite started in 1974. The original room became the spare suite to receive other foreign heads of state who arriving at the same time. In 1995, this room changed to become the high-end banquet hall and named as “State Banquet Hall”. According to its name, people will enjoy the state-banquet standard reception and service when dinning here. The cuisines also feature the state banquet dishes.
The state banquet hall is always the first choice for politician and business celebrities to treat their guests. In order to offer a better dinner environment and give the “state banquet hall” a new look, the Grand Hotel renovated the hall with a modern design combined with dragon, phoenix and a symbol of good luck. Exquisitely carved decoration perfectly presents an honorable, wealthy and auspicious atmosphere. Except for the decoration, the inside and outside devices reappear the President Chiang Kai-Shek’s style of receiving his guests. In addition, the artworks in the room including works by two calligraphers, Mr. Chang Pin-Huang from Taiwan and Mr. Su Shi-Shu from Mainland China, and the paintings of “Hundred Horses” and “The Picnic of 18 Scholars of Song Dynasty”, fully show the cultural features of the Grand Hotel.
The 198-meter-square State Banquet Hall is divided into two areas – “Reception Room” and “Banquet Room”. Most furniture in the “Reception Room” has been used by the former President Chiang Kai-Shek and Mme. Chiang. Among the furniture, there are Mme. Chiang’s favorite “Jade Screen”, the vase in the Cairo commemorative photo, the dragon and phoenix chair and the marble chairs especially designed for the President Chiang and Mme. Chiang. The 90-degrees seatback design fully demonstrated the “soldier’s spirit” of President Chiang Kai-Shek. The armchair and sofa were the actual furniture that Presidents Chiang and Mme. Chiang used before in the presidential suite. Many heads of state have sat on them. All the guests could recall the scenario of that time from the historical pictures on the wall.
Everything is redesigned for our guests in the “Banquet Room”, such as carpet, dinning-table, chairs, tableware, cuisines and menu. During the banquet, our staff will introduce the cuisine one by one along with Chinese Orchestra live performance, and the beautiful views of the wide Keelung River, 101 building and Song Shan International Airport are all in sight. It is definitely a different experience to entertain your guests here, to feel the history and the culture atmosphere in the Grand Hotel. Furthermore, it can also show your sincerity and the high standard service to your guests.
