The Grand Hotel especially cooperates with Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor Inc. to launch the limited edition commemorative wine –“Grand Hotel 60th Red” and “Grand Hotel 60th Green” for celebrating their 60th anniversary.
These two bottles of wine reveal the value of wine treasure and worthy to be collected, no matter from the contained winery reserved wine to the “gourd” bottle designed by Edward Hsu of Excellent Collection Pottery Creation.
The Grand Hotel especially commissioned the designer Mr. Edward Hsu of Excellent Collection Pottery Creation to design and fire the exclusive bottles for these two kinds of wine. That company has won the award “Taiwan Craft Shop” appraised by the Council of Cultural Affairs in 2004. Mr.Hsu has also designed the gifts for the President Hall and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for many times. There are more than 20 works designed for state guests, such as the “Happy Lion” for President Bill Clinton, the “Lotus scrolled globular vase” for Pope John Paul II, the “Formosan landlocked salmon” for the President of Republic of Honduras and the wall decorations of Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ guest room in Taoyuan Airport. The Grand Hotel looks like a gourd from the bird’s eye view; therefore, Mr. Edward Hsu took this thought as his inspiration. He combined the meaning “accumulate wealth and gather fortune” of the “wide belly and narrow beak” land form with interlacing branches which means the endless Chinese culture. All of these symbolize Grand Hotel’s spirit ofcarrying forward the cause and forging ahead into the future and sustainable operation. In addition, this year is the dragon year. The designer especially set a dragon mounting the clouds and riding the mist in the central of “Grand Hotel 60th Red” bottle to express the emperor’s style. For the bottle of “Grand Hotel 60th Green”, the elegant blue and white porcelain elements are chosen. The neat decoration, clear blue color and the orchids design deliver the classically elegant beauty. The two bottles are made with 1300 degrees heat and delicate spray-glazing which brought the excellent water-resistant property.
“Grand Hotel 60th Green” and “Grand Hotel 60th Red” are the high-quality wine base of 56 degrees Kinmen Kaoliang. The former is Kaoliang liquor with sweet and smooth taste. The “Grand Hotel 60th Red” is also Kaoliang liquor, but this is the special reserved wine through strict selection after the wine is made, and then it is stored in the winery for three years. The production of this wine is small, but it has mellow and rich taste which is different from the “Grand Hotel 60th Green”. In addition, the making process used for the bottle is more complicated and more difficult than the “Grand Hotel 60th Green”, its price is relative higher.
The Grand Hotel indicated that generally, there are many kinds of Kaoliang liquor because of the produced year and different manufacturing methods. Some have small production and made for years, which is suitable for collection or tasting. Some could be match with dishes, such as the famous chicken marinated in Kaoliang liquor, stewed chicken with Kaoliang liquor, Kaoliang pickled Chinese cabbage, Kaoliang spicy crab and eggs boiled in Kaoliang, etc. The “Grand Hotel 60th Red” and the “Grand Hotel 60th Green” are truly the wines for collection. Except for the rich and mellow flavor and the bottle design full of cultural meanings, these two commemorative wines are launched for celebrating the 60th birthday of the Grand Hotel and the Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor Inc. Both companies have witnessed the history of Taiwan in the past 60 years and had this chance to jointly launch the limited edition wines of great historical meaning.
